The Driver’s Exam Station is located at 304 South Marshall St. in Caledonia in Room B11 in the basement of the Historic Courthouse. Staff is available on the 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, and 5^th Thursdays of the Month. Appointments are needed for the Class D knowledge test and skill exams. Appointments are to be made online. Written testes are given between 9:00am - 10:15am. Skill exams are given in the afternoon. Please see available time options online.

The hours for Driver’s License, commercial driver’s license and photo ID cards are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. No photos are taken after 4 PM. New applications for REAL or Enhanced Driver’s Licenses/ID Cards and Out-Of-State Titles will not be processed after 3:30 pm due to processing times.

This office also processes reinstatement fees, CDL medical certifications and disability parking certificate applications.

Reinstatement fees are a cash only service with an $8.00 convenience fee.

To register a vehicle or do a title transfer, the current title and all papers received at time of purchase are required, as well as the driver license for all owners. If you purchase a vehicle, please bring the Title, MSO or Confirmation of Ownership.  If the vehicle is new, the window sticker along with all paperwork from the dealership must be presented.

Out-Of-State Titles will not be processed after 3:30 pm due to processing times.

There will be no title work done after 4 PM.

To transfer the title on a motorcycle, the engine number off the block of the engine is required.

If you are sending someone else to get renewal tabs, please send the renewal notice or a permission slip.

To register a purchased boat, ATV or snowmobile from a private party, the required information includes a detailed Bill of Sale with the following information:  year, make, model, serial number, engine size and the width of the rear tires.

Usually boats that are longer than 16 feet have a title which needs to be presented at our office.

A Bill of Sale or a registration card is needed to register a trailer, if it does not have a title.

If you are sending someone else to complete the registration for you, they must have a permission slip.

If you purchased a boat and trailer as a “package deal”, a value must be assigned to each.  A Bill of Sale is required to list a value for the boat and a value for the trailer.

There will be no title work done after 4PM.

Anyone 18 years or older MUST appear in person with a valid drivers license to purchase any and all game and fish licenses.
