The Finance Director is under the direction of the County Board and is responsible for developing, formulating and implementing fiscal and accounting policies and procedures to assure compliance with all laws, rules and regulations and to assure that accounting procedures and records conform with generally accepted accounting principles and practices.

The Houston County Highway Department is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of the county highway system. The department administers all functions associated with the 250 miles of county state aid highway and 13 miles of county roads under the jurisdiction of the county.
