The Houston County Airport, FAA Identifier CHU, is a public use airport located three miles (5km) south of Caledonia, MN at an elevation of 1,179 ft.
Assessor
The County Assessor's Office is responsible for estimating the market value and determining the legislative classification of all property in Houston County for real estate tax purposes.
Attorney
The Houston County Attorney's Office serves as the chief prosecutor for all felony, gross misdemeanors and juvenile offenses committed within Houston County.
Auditor-Treasurer
The Auditor-Treasurer receives payment of all current and delinquent property taxes. This department also calculates the tax rates, prepares the Truth in Taxation Notices and Property Tax Statements. This department handles all information regarding land transfers, elections and business license.

Finance
The Finance Director is under the direction of the County Board and is responsible for developing, formulating and implementing fiscal and accounting policies and procedures to assure compliance with all laws, rules and regulations and to assure that accounting procedures and records conform with generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
Highway
The Houston County Highway Department is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of the county highway system. The department administers all functions associated with the 250 miles of county state aid highway and 13 miles of county roads under the jurisdiction of the county.
Human Services
The County Human Services Department is under the supervision of an appointed Board. The five elected County Commissioners also serve as the Human Services Board. The Board selects and hires a Human Services Director to administer and oversee the various Federal, State and County programs.

Public Health
Houston County Public Health is committed to providing reliable health information and access to services that promote the health of the community. Staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to respond to your inquiries.
Recorder
The County Recorder records, protects, secures and preserves documentation of land title. The County Recorder also maintains records on documentation of Vitals (birth death and marriage records), and Military Service discharge records.
Sheriff
The Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer for Houston County and shall pursue and apprehend all those that violate the law and lodge them in county jail, which he is also in charge of. In addition to supervising the deputies, jailers and dispatchers who work under him,
Soil and Water
The Root River Soil and Water Conservation District's purpose is to provide assistance to cooperators in managing the natural resources on their land. In addition the district will continue to educate people on local conservation issues and concerns, in order to fortify and perpetuate the conservation movement.
Surveyor
The County Surveyor's Office is responsible for the restoration and perpetuation of the corner monuments of the Public Land Survey System, and determining modern measurements between those monuments.
Veterans Services
The CVSO is held responsible for attaining knowledge on the continually changing array of benefits that are available to the Veteran, his or her family, the widow, and orphans of a Veteran.
Zoning / Planning
The Planning and Zoning Office also oversees all phases of planning and zoning activities in the townships including the development, coordination and enforcement of the Houston County Zoning Ordinance, which includes floodplain and shoreland rules and regulations; and the Houston County Feedlot Ordinance.
